The car had to look perfect and as real as possible, and the environment as well, a tall order considering that this is a fully generated 3D shot that needs to be edited seamlessly between 2 real shots.
After 5 animatics and low res versions, the director and us agreed on the final camera move and layout.
Shaders, light, and Materials were done using Vray 2.4, render elements where used for more control later in post.
In 3D everything has to be “thought” beforehand, we decided to do a complete rig to the car so we can do as many simulations as needed, without having to re-animate manually every time the director wanted a new change (like the speed of the whole shot).
Consider that the wheels have to have a contact with the ground and therefore correct spin.
